(More customer reviews)i don't know what to say really, i cleaned and oiled these pans before putting the dough into them and the bread stuck like glue to the sides of the pans.
i also used a norpro pan which looks identical to the kaiser and the bread popped right out.
maybe they have to be used a few times first? I will try again next time i bake but considering that the pans were oiled and the bread was shaped with oil not flour i am amazed at how tenaciously the bread stuck to this pan...

(More customer reviews)The Fat Chef Recipe Box arrived on my doorstep today, box completely bashed in, but fortunately no damage to the contents. The box is large enough to hold hundreds of recipes. The fat chef graphic on front and sides, are delightful. Overall, this is a lovely, well made addition to my kitchen...I can actually leave this one out on display. I gave 4 stars only because I would have liked a little more bubble wrap(1 very small piece of bubble wrap and a few sheets of lose paper) to protect the wood inside. It was a miracle that the box was intact when it arrived. All four corners of the mailing box were smashed in completely, and I feel that had it been smashed anywhere else on the box, my purchase would have been ruined. The box itself was well worth the money. More a precautionary step for the seller. It would have been a shame to have this lovely box, arrive in pieces.

Amco 6-Quart Stainless-Steel Mixing Bowl Review

(More customer reviews)I should've listened to the previous reviewer. I'm not sure how these bowls are normally measured, but even though it claims a 6-quart capacity, in my tests using a liquid measuring cup, this bowl only holds up to 19 cups (4.75 quarts) before spilling over, which of course is an impractical level to fill a bowl. So 4 quarts is probably more accurate, and even then I'd be worried about mixing stuff over the edge depending on what's in it.
In spite of this, I've happily used it to mix dough and fillings, and as part of a makeshift double boiler with a 3qt pot. It's a sturdy stainless steel mixing bowl with a flat bottom and a brushed metal appearance, nothing special. It doesn't have a rubber bottom like some brands, but you can always put a rubber mat or damp kitchen towel under it if that bothers you. Just make sure you aren't actually planning on putting more than a gallon of stuff in it at one time.

(More customer reviews)Only downside, it takes a few extra minutes of baking time due to the light color. Otherwise, just apply a little oil and it releases the baked goods better than the so called "Nonstick" pans that I have, for less than half the price. Hope this helps.
PS: update a couple of years later... this pan did not last long, in fact it started rusting shortly after I wrote the initial review and we had no choice but to throw it out. Should have updated sooner, sorry...

(More customer reviews)The Rada peeler's handle turned out to be a bit longer and thicker than I expected. I'm happy with it though - it has a really nice weight to it (without being heavy). I love the brushed aluminum handle. Very nice matte finish.
When I peeled the first carrot with it - wow. Super sharp. It glides over the surface of the vegetable, lifting the peel (no snagging like some inexpensive peelers) and feeling awesomely effortless. You don't have to press - you barely move your hand along and the thing glides!
Safety tip, from me and my thumb: you'll want to make sure to put your peeler in the dish rack pointy side down. I reached for a fork, didn't see the peeler, and it got me good.

(More customer reviews)If you have the patiences, this mochi maker and cutter is great. To make mochi, you have to let mochi rice soak in water over night and drain water completely. After steaming (about 40 minutes) and pounding which takes about another ten minutes, you have to immediately roll or cut mochi (with rice flour)while it is warm.
Pros: Mochi is great and no strained muscles from hacing to pound it the old fashion way. Also no more store visits to find stale or frozen mochi. Cleaning the mochi maker is simple. The Mochi cutter is better than doing it by hand. Best of all, the freshest and best mochi I ever had.
Cons: Cleaning the mochi cutter is somewhat a pain. When mochi cools down or runs out, it begins to stick to everything, especially the innards. Although I use rice flour to help prevent the mochi from sticking to everything, it eventually will stick when the flour runs out. Soaking the cutter in VERY hot water will loosen up mochi rice to clean, but wear some gloves to prevent burning.
But in all, I'm happy and highly recommend it.

Bosch Universal Plus Mixer with Blender; includes Cookie Paddles with Metal Whip Driver Review

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a either a kitchen-aid or Bosch mixer and after much research decided to go with the Bosch. The new kitchen-aids seem to be more concerned with offering the right selection of designer colours than making careful decisions about quality manufacturing. I have read all the reports of Kitchen-aids with melted plastic gearbox housings and leaking oil. They may have fixed some of these problems by now but the pedigree is not that of the Hobart produced machines of old. When whirlpool bought the kitchen-aid brand they obviously did a redesign to cut corners and make more money without due care to quality. I am not willing to spend over $400 on a machine that could fall apart after the warranty runs out, Bosch still builds there own machines and care about their reputation.
The machine does everything I have tried. Whips eggs better than any other mixer I have tried. Makes cookie dough faster than I thought possible(used cookie mixing paddles). Made a batch a of scones easily (used cookie mixing paddles). Tried it with pastry it worked perfectly(used pastry wire whips, not the whips that come with the machine. Made a batch of bread buns with the interesting looking bread hook, and they turned out great. The dough hook was even able to perfectly distribute the raisins I added part way through the kneading process.
I was a bit worried by some kitchen-aids users saying the Bosch would not handle small batches well, but I didn't have a problem with small batches. I tried large and small batches, both worked well. Maybe if you were only mixing a few cups of something it may not be the best choice, but really I would rather save the hassle and mix that in a bowl by hand. The kitchen-aids might have a slight advantage with less to clean, but it is only small difference. The Bosch is 800watts, double most of the new kitchen-aids and well I have a hard time believing people that try to say a kitchen-aids will do more than 2 loaves of bread with their lower powered motors. Also the Bosch takes up less counter space and can be easily slipped under cabinets away from the work area when need be.
I think Bosch makes a good mixer.

I had a Cuisinart, but the switch became defective after a few years of use, so I bought a replacement --- different model number (CEK-40), but essentially the same. It died (same switch problem) after my initial use --- just trying it out. Amazon, of course, took it back without any hassle. So I got the Wolfgang Puck knife --- had to wait a bit, as it was announced but not released. The blades seem a bit long to me, but that is minor. It works perfectly, and looks really solid. I've used it about a dozen times by now, mostly carving roasted chicken.

(More customer reviews)When I was first married over 30 years ago, I remember my mom saying that even if it seemed extravagant, it was worth it to buy quality cookware. So listening to mom, we used our wedding gift money and bought the top of the line cookware. I am still using that same dutch oven, sauce pan, and skillet, and right now I think they will probably last longer than I will!
Well, when I first saw the price of the Baker's Edge Pan, I hesitated. I knew the concept of the pan was terrific. I read all the reviews, and I really felt the design of the pan would produce better brownies, breads, casseroles, and just about anything I wanted to try.
Well, I remembered my mom's advice and decided to purchase the pan. It has exceeded my expectations as far as even cooking, perfect pieces, nice edges, and even beautiful presentation.
In addition, the quality of the pan is amazing. When I think of how many cheap 9x13 pans I have bought over the years, I knew I should have applied my mom's cookware rule to bakeware. Most baking pans warp over time or cook unevenly because they are so thin. This pan is unbelievable as far as quality construction. I feel it was a very economical purchase because with proper care it should last forever! I can't imagine needing a replacement. However, since the pan is so versatile, I would readily purchase another one - using one for a main dish casserole and another for dessert! I sincerely recommend this pan for your bakeware collection

The patented sidewalls circulate heat evenly throughout the pan and produce better brownies (fewer undercooked middles and burned edges). The recessed handles allow pan to be gripped when turned upside-down. It comes with a custom spatula and recipes/instructions insert. It's oven safe to 500 degrees F and is broiler safe for browning.
